The Fort Bridges Raft Race is organised by the Rotary Club of South Queensferry (“the Organiser”).

2. Registration

3. Minimum Age & Parental Consent

The minimum age for participation is 14 years old on the date of the event.

Participants aged 14–17 must have consent to take part from a parent or legal guardian.

The parent or guardian agrees to these Terms & Conditions, including assumption of risk and limitation of liability provisions, on behalf of the minor participant.

4. Assumption of Risk

Clearly, watersports and adventure activities are hazardous by their nature and participants, parents or guardians must accept that there are risks and the inevitable bumps and scrapes which happen during the thrills and spills of fast moving activities. Edinburgh Watersports provides a safe system of work to manage associated risk but participants must adhere to the safety rules and instructions. Participants attend at their own risk.

Participants must expect to be involved in adventurous or strenuous activity.

5. Participant Responsibilities

Participants must follow safety instructions, attend safety briefings and use required safety equipment. Participants must be in general good health and must satisfy themselves that the activity is within their abilities. In particular, they should ensure that they are medically fit and meet the sea water ability requirements set out in the online Registration form.

6. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Scots law.

Subject to this, the Organiser shall not be liable for loss of property, indirect or consequential loss, loss of fundraising income, or event cancellation due to circumstances beyond reasonable control.

7. Weather & Cancellation

The Organiser reserves the right to modify, delay, or cancel the event due to weather or safety concerns. Refunds, if any, are at the Organiser’s discretion.

8. Refunds due to Withdrawal or Failure to Participate

In the event that a Team or several team members withdraw from the raft race, or are excluded due to misconduct or for any other reason, no refund of the Team Entry Fee will be made.

9. Fundraising

Rafters are encouraged to raise funds through sponsorship for a nominated good cause or charity, with a minimum target of £1,000 per Team. Rafters may set up a JustGiving page during the registration process. Fundraising conducted via JustGiving is subject to their terms and conditions. The Organiser is not responsible for funds processed by third-party platforms.

10. Photography & Media

By participating, participants consent to photography and video recording unless they notify the Organiser in writing before the event. For under 18s this may be done on the registration form.

11. Conduct

The Organiser may remove any participant for unsafe behaviour, failure to follow instructions, substance misuse, or abusive conduct, or if it is suspected they do not meet the age and health entry criteria indicated on the registration form.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
